Purina - Flock Management Tips
Consistent quality nutrition:
Good nutrition is key to a healthy and productive flock. One of the best ways to support your chicks as they grow into laying hens is through feed. From first egg to retirement, it’s vital for peak egg production to support your hen’s nutritional needs.

Why is layer feed important?
Hens need to consume around 4 grams of calcium each day to make one eggshell. They also require vitamin D and manganese – which must come from the hen’s feed. Purina layer feed gives your hens – and ours – everything they need during this important time.
When to feed layer feed:
The first egg often arrives around 18 weeks of age, subject to breed, environment and nutrition. Switching your hen to a layer feed at 18 weeks will help them lay stronger eggs with a better defense against bacteria and better support for their skeletal structure.
